Motet Translations

Heinrich Schütz: "Oculi Omnium/Pater noster," SWV 88-89
Cantiones Sacrae

Psalm 145:15-16; Matthew 6: 9-13

Oculi omnium in te sperant Domine:
et tu das illis escam
in tempore opportuno.
Aperis tu manum tuam:
et imples omne animal benedictione. Alleluia.

Pater noster qui es in coelis,
sanctificetur nomen tuum,
adveniat regnum tuum,
fiat voluntas tua,
sicut in coelo et in terra,
panem nostrum cotidianum

All eyes await you, Lord;
and you will give them sustenance
in due time.
You open your hand:
and provide to all creatures blessing. Alleluia.

Our Father which art in heaven,
hallowed by thy name,
Thy Kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debpts
as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glore, for ever and ever, Amen.
