Strad Selection. I do not think I have ever enjoyed a performance of this sturdy piece more.

I bought this CD for the op. 91 songs, and it is the best recording of these I have heard--all three play their best on this selection. Pamela Dellal's mezzo-soprano is dark and rich, just what I want to hear for these songs! Zaretsky matches her tonal color perfectly, and Bjerken provides the textures that complete this remarkable performance. The Brahms sonatas are admirably played--the piano textures and voicing are again noteworthy. The two artists are of one mind in the Schumann pieces--the first and last are beautifully expressive, and the others are exciting.
